You ask, we answer!

When can I apply, how do I submit my application, and in which language should it be?

Ideally, you should apply around four months in advance of your preferred start date. Please use our online tool to submit applications. You should send your application documents in the local language or in English.

What is the minimum length of an internship?

The minimum length of an internship in Germany is 10 weeks; some of our international locations award internships for a six-month period.

Which position or entry level should I apply for?

Your entry level depends on your qualifications and experience. With a bachelor’s degree, you come on board as an Analyst. If you’ve already completed your master’s degree, you start as an Associate Consultant; with an MBA, PhD or some professional experience on top, you begin directly at the Consultant level.

If you already have extensive professional experience, you join Fortlane Partners as an Experienced Hire. Your precise entry level will depend on your industry expertise, subject matter expertise and management expertise.

Is previous experience in Management Consulting required for a fulltime position?

We require you to have some practical experience in a consultancy environment or to have other professional experience of relevance to us.

Can I submit an unsolicited application?

Yes – we’re always on the lookout for smart, committed people, so you can make an unsolicited application at any time.

Can I also apply to work at an international office?

Yes, please send your application directly to the designated contact at your preferred location. You must be able to speak the local language fluently.

What does Fortlane Partners look for during interview?

Alongside subject matter expertise and analytical and communication skills, personality and attitude are key. If you’re looking for extraordinary challenges, are keen to contribute your own ideas and want to make an impact, you’re exactly the sort of person we’re looking for.

How can I best prepare for an interview?

Our recruitment day is designed around conversations (where it’s more about personality), case studies and brain teasers. Prepare by reading relevant literature on the main topics (e.g., Strategy, Finance and Business Development), and attend workshops beforehand.

Should I mention my preferred industry/service lines in my application?

You can tell us if you already have a preferred area of interest. You need to state a focus area for positions at Manager level and up.

Is it possible to move between Management Consulting and Corporate Finance?

No – you opt for Management Consulting or Corporate Finance before you start. But both units work together closely on numerous projects.

Can I choose my preffered office location?

Yes, for roles in Germany, the choice is up to you. In Management Consulting, you can work out of our Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf or Frankfurt offices.

Can I transfer to a different office location?

Life circumstances can change – and it’s possible to relocate within Germany.

What opportunities are there to work internationally at Fortlane Partners?

Our consultants accompany projects at home and abroad and work in international teams.

How are projects assignments determined, and do I have a say?

Your preferences and personal profile will be taken into account when projects are allocated – and we’re often able to accommodate your wishes.

How big are project teams?

The average is 3-6 members per team.

How many days a week will I work on-site with clients?

The amount of time you spend on-site with clients varies depending on the project, but it's typically no more than four days per week. In other words, you'll spend more nights at home than in a hotel. For the rest of the week, our hybrid working model gives you the flexibility to work from one of our offices or from home.

Will I already be working on-site with clients during my internship?

Our interns assist on client projects. Depending on how the project is structured, your work will be partly on-site and partly office based.

How and when can I develop a specialization?

You’ll acquire certain role- and sector-specific preferences through initial project experience. You’ll then extend your expertise by working in the relevant industry or practice group. Specialization normally comes at Manager level and beyond.

How often will my performance be evaluated?

We place great importance on regular feedback to support your continuous growth and career development. That's why you'll have comprehensive performance and development reviews every three months, giving you clear guidance and helping you shape your career.

What professional training & development opportunities are there?

The Fortlane Partners Academy provides training in tools, hard skills and soft skills to suit your level, and it accompanies you throughout your career. You can also obtain support for relevant training outside of the Fortlane Partners Academy and attend regular conferences and seminars.

If you want to take your academic education to the next stage – for example with a master’s degree, MBA or PhD – you receive financial support from us and benefit from our corporate infrastructure and network while you’re studying.
